Promise is made from over 200 different dinner packaging boxes sourced from local supermarkets. It considers the idea of garnish - this decorative cliché of food presentation - where each garnish is cut from its dinner packaging and folded to stand up in the centre of individual plant pots.
The plant pots are arranged according to garnish species, the display resembling that found in a garden centre. At close range, however, any illusion of nature gives way to artifice as the seedlings are seen to be cut from a bed of wholly manufactured produce.
