The Luncheon, 2002
Framed photograph of sill life made from wet toilet paper, disposable tableware, real stalks, plastic flies.
183 x 122cms
The Luncheon is a large-scale photograph of a luscious 17th century-style still life made from wet toilet paper, the colour of which is determined by that which toilet paper is readily available.
As ideas of abundance and desire, waste and decay, have historically been intrinsic to still life painting, the similar associations of contemporary toilet paper enables it to slip naturally into this still life mould.
