Group Coordination (Green), 2011
Plastic straws, cigarette filter tips, cable clips and found green objects; energy bulb; Dims.: variable (according to the dimensions of the gallery).

A site-specific work made for Parker’s Box Gallery, December 2011

The flexible drinking straw forms the basic construction material for this work. With diy fervour, straws are joined together using cigarette filter-tips to build a continuous line around the perimeter of the gallery space. The straws extend in varying colour combinations before encountering an assemblage of green objects in the centre of the gallery. Here the straws turn exclusively to green, weave an impromptu doodle around the display before reverting back to random colours and resuming their quiet loop around the gallery as before.
The frivolous display is one which surreptitiously engulfs, thereby implicates, the entire space including viewers and gallery staff as part of the display.
Different versions of this work exists in Red, Blue and Yellow, as well as Green.
